Yamaha Technology

Bringing rider and machine together as one: that’s the philosophy that has consistently guided development at Yamaha. It permits not even a single note of discord between man and machine. Yamaha’s DNA, which has long made dreams of mobility come true, creates a new and unprecedented riding experience.

PWX Motor 1 - Electric Bikes & eBikesPW-X

The PW-X is lighter, has a quickened response, and achieves higher power. From a low to high speed range, the drive unit is more loyal to the rider’s will than ever before and creates a totally new riding experience. Making the drive unit more compact, means not simply reducing the overall weight of the machine, but also refraining from interfering with the ideal frame design. Yamaha thoroughly lightened the design by 380g by adopting a hollow axle shaft, using a thinner driven gear, and reducing the case thickness, while simultaneously reducing volume by nearly 13%.

Battery Pack Type

Select where you load your battery pack from 2 locations

The battery pack employs a large capacity cell (highest spec available) compared to prior models. Being a lithium-ion battery, it lasts long, and over-charging does not detract from the battery’s recharging functions. The battery pack can also be attached to the following places – on the down tube, or on the rear carrier. The battery pack can be recharged without being removed from the bicycle when placed on the down tube or rear carrier.

With these two variations, bicycle manufacturers have increased freedom of design, allowing more models to equip the assist system. The PW series is designed to cater to a variety of bicycle types, from commuters, road bikes, mountain bikes, and small-wheeled bicycles.
